Amalia won first place in the youth category tonight at the 2017 New Times Music Awards for her song the Simplicity of Things! The NTMA’s is a songwriting competition where local artists and bands in San Luis Obispo County compete against each other with their original music.
Every year there is an award ceremony at the historic Fremont Theater and the winners of each category showcase their music. Amalia performed and played a 4 song set of all original songs.
Amalia’s 11-year-old sister, Rio Fleming, also a singer-songwriter (pictured below) received an honorable mention for her original song “Take Me Back to the Mischief”. Rio performed live as well at the award ceremony!! Amalia & Rio do not play together but they are each others greatest fans! Thank you New Times for supporting our local young musicians.
